Investigation of shear strength of sand–bentonite mixtures with boron additives at high temperature for energy geo-structures

چکیده

The soils surrounding energy geo-structures are exposed to high temperatures and temperature cycles. Changes in the engineering properties of should be investigated under thermal effects that highly durable against changes needed for thermo-active geo-structures. Generally, bentonite or sand–bentonite mixtures (SBMs) preferred as natural barrier soil materials. Hence, these materials improved. Boron, which has resistivity, reduces heat expansion materials, when added may increase durability buffer at temperatures. In present study, tincal ulexite additives were observed on shear strength behavior SBMs 80 °C room temperature. general results showed with contribution boron, increased increasing effect was more pronounced 20% Tincal can used

investigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures

deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...

Investigation of Shear Strength Anisotropy of c- &phi Soils

Cohesive-frictional soils are widely used in the construction of embankment structures and due to the method of construction, i.e. applying compactive efforts in the vertical direction in these cases, the occurrence of anisotropy in the soil strength and permeability seems to be inevitable. In this study, attempts have been made to evaluate the shear strength of c-f soils through modifying a l...

Experimental investigation of the strength of glass fiber-reinforced concrete exposed to high temperature

This study investigated the effects of high temperature exposure on the compressive, tensile, and flexural strengths of concrete containing glass fiber. A total of 108 cubic specimens (150 mm × 150 mm × 150 mm), cylindrical specimens (300 mm × 150 mm), and prismatic specimens (500 mm × 150 mm × 150 mm) were prepared for compressive, tensile, and flexural strength testing, respectively. The spec...

non-linear study of various slit shear walls in steel structures

seismic retrofit strategies have been developed in the past few decades following the introduction of new seismic provisions and the availability of advanced materials and methods. it can be observed that new approaches to deal with more lateral forces are more innovative and more energy absorbent. in line with this, there is a growing trend toward the use of steel shear walls as a system with ...
